Naeem Mohaiemen (b. 1969, United Kingdom) combines films, photography, drawings, and essays to explore forms of utopia-dystopia within families, borders, architecture, and uprisings– beginning from South Asia and then radiating outward to transnational collisions after 1945. His publications include Bengal Photography’s Reality Quest (2025), Baksho Rohoshyo (2023), Midnight’s Third Child (2023), and, with Eszter Szakacs, Solidarity Must Be Defended (2023). From 2002-2008, he organized Visible Collective, a group of artists, organizers, and lawyers who worked on museum projects around “post-9/11 security panic.”

Mohaiemen is Head of the Photography Concentration and Director of Undergraduate Studies at the Visual Arts Department, School of Arts, Columbia University, New York.
